Those patients of mine who come in with lower back pain and sciatica usually tell me that it hurts more when they sit down versus standing up. They ususallly tell me they can sit for awhile then the lower back pain and sciatica shoots down their leg and they need to stand immediatley. There is a specific reason for this event and I would like to give that to all of our patients from Plainfield to Bolingbrook, Chicago to indiana.
When you stand your weight comes through your spinal column and through your lumbar discs evenly as long as your spine is in proper alignment. If your spine is out of alignment, the weight gets ditributed unevenly and causes the discs to bulge. When you have discs that are bulging for years the disc fibers stretch and eventually cause pain. It has been scientifically proven that you put the most Amount of Stress on your discs when you sit. So now your spine is out of alignment for years, you have been stretching the disc fibers for years and now you go to sit down adding the highest amount of stress to the disc. That in turn causes the fibers to stretch even more causing you to have massive amounts of pain called sciatica and lower back pain.
The sloution is to receive chiropractic adjustments to gentley put the spine into alignment thereby taking the stretch off teh disc fibers.
